Seventeen-year-old South Korean Noh Seung-yul crammed an eagle and nine birdies in a spectacular 10-under-par 62 to take the first-round lead at the Malaysian Open on Thursday.

Webb leads Women’s Aussie Open by three

Former No. 1-ranked Karrie Webb returned to form with a 7-under 66 to lead the Women’s Australian Open by three strokes Thursday, while 12-year-old Oh Su-hyun became the youngest player ever to participate in the tournament.

Bradley scores twice, US tops Mexico 2-0 (AP)

Even before the game started, Michael Bradley knew everything would be fine. Then he went out and made sure. Bradley scored twice to lead the United States to a 2-0 victory over Mexico in a World Cup qualifier Wednesday night, preserving the Americans’ domination in the series over the last nine years.

Favre announces his retirement again (AP)

Brett Favre’s record-breaking right arm made the decision easier for him this time. The 39-year-old quarterback insists he’s done playing football, telling the New York Jets on Wednesday that his injured shoulder is still bothering him and he’s retiring after 18 seasons. And he really means it — at least for now.

NCAA penalizes Eastern Washington (AP)

The NCAA penalized Eastern Washington’s football program Wednesday for numerous violations under former coach Paul Wulff, now the coach at Washington State. Among the violations announced were allowing ineligible athletes to practice, having too many assistant coaches and failure to properly monitor the team.

Mitchell’s 41 leads LSU to win in 2OT (AP)

Tasmin Mitchell had a career high 41 points, including a decisive three-point play in double overtime, to give LSU a 97-94 victory over Mississippi State on Wednesday night. LSU (20-4, 8-1) took control of the Southeastern Conference Western Division after Mitchell drove the lane and drew a foul to break a 93-93 tie with less than a minute to play.

Cowboys WR Bowling faces drug charges (AP)

Oklahoma State wide receiver Bo Bowling was suspended from the team Wednesday after he was arrested on felony drug charges. Bowling was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, according to court documents.
