Buckeyes end BCS skid with Rose Bowl win (AP)

Although Terrelle Pryor always has flash in his game, he went a little bit Hollywood this week. While enjoying the sun and diversions of southern California, the Ohio State quarterback sometimes sported black-framed eyeglasses that don't contain prescription lenses. Don't worry, Buckeyes fans: Pryor can see very clearly what must happen Friday for Ohio State (10-2) to end its three-game…

Brandon Roy learned from Portland's loss on Christmas last season, so he pared down his holiday schedule to make sure he was prepared to face Denver this year. He sure looked ready. Roy had 41 points while wearing a thin brace to protect his sore left shoulder and Steve Blake added 17 to lead the Trail Blazers to a 107-96 win over the Nuggets on Friday night.

Lakers fans upset as LeBron lifts Cavs (AP)

December 26, 2009 by Administrator · Leave a Comment

The yellow foam hands came flying in from every corner of the lower bowl, sailing onto the court in dozens of frisbee-style arches late in the Cleveland Cavaliers' dominant victory. LeBron James was more worried than amused by this unusual display of frustration from the Los Angeles Lakers' fans — and he got a bit more concerned when at least one water bottle followed the foam.

Sharpshooting Suns rout Clippers 124-93 (AP)

Asked where his buzzer-beating basket from three quarters of the way down the court ranks among the longest of his career, Grant Hill shrugged, "Top 20." The Phoenix Suns could afford to joke after their 124-93 laugher over the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night. Hill banked it in from the Los Angeles 3-point line to give Phoenix a 67-55 halftime lead, and the Suns went on to beat the…

Chargers grab 1st-round bye, rip Titans (AP)

December 25, 2009 by Administrator · Leave a Comment

The San Diego Chargers have their first-round bye, and Philip Rivers is still perfect in December. Tennessee's bid for NFL history? The Titans lost that right along with their postseason dream, looking like a throwback to the team that started the season 0-6. Rivers threw two touchdowns passes, LaDainian Tomlinson ran for two scores and the Chargers beat the Titans 42-17 on Friday night to grab…

The Boston Celtics left the floor with the smallest of grins, hands raised in triumph, leaving the Orlando Magic's fans listening to a somber song by Elvis. Blue Christmas. Not for the guys in green. Rajon Rondo had 17 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists, and Boston bullied the Magic with strong defense in an 86-77 victory Friday.

Colts 13-0, win NFL-record 22nd in a row (AP)

December 14, 2009 by Administrator · Leave a Comment

The Indianapolis Colts passed two dynasties with one win. Peyton Manning finished off their 28-16 win over Denver to give Indy a couple of records: Sunday's victory was their 22nd straight in the regular season and 114th this decade. The New England Patriots, winners of three Super Bowls since 2001, won their 21st in a row just last year, while the San Francisco 49ers had 113 wins in the 1990s,…

LeBron James got Cleveland back into the game with a flurry of 3-pointers. Then Mo Williams one-upped him with an even more important shot for the Cavaliers. Chargers extend Cowboys’ December misery (AP)

December 13, 2009 by Administrator · Leave a Comment

The December trends hold: Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers are perfect, while Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys are perfectly miserable in the most important month of the regular season. Rivers broke a fourth-quarter tie with a 14-yard touchdown pass to Antonio Gates, then followed with a drive that ate up more than 7 minutes and ended in a field goal, giving San Diego a 20-17 victory…
