Jets, LT Ferguson agree to $60M, 6 years (AP)

Pro Bowl left tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson agreed Wednesday to terms on a contract extension with the New York Jets, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press. A second person familiar with the negotiations said it’s a six-year deal for $60 million. Both people requested anonymity because the deal had not yet been signed.

Kent State beats Akron for MAC title (AP)

Anthony Simpson scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds to pace Kent State to a 74-61 win over Akron on Friday night. Rodriquez Sherman added 15 points and five assists for the Golden Flashes (23-8, 13-3 Mid-American Conference), who have won five games in a row. The win earned Kent State the 2010 Mid-American Conference title and an automatic bid to the post season.

Syracuse’s Paulus hoping for shot at NFL (AP)

After playing point guard at Duke and quarterback at Syracuse, Greg Paulus is ready for a new frontier — the NFL. “You dream of these things. To have this opportunity, I wanted to take advantage of it,” the 23-year-old Paulus said as he prepared for Thursday’s pro day before at least a dozen NFL teams at Syracuse.
